For sale is my custom-built Trek 9700 OCLV carbon hardtail. I built this bike several years ago to be a cross-country racer, but a new job and schedule means I haven't ridden it in a year or two. I don't know whether this would apply to the purchaser of this bike, but I still have the original sale paperwork. After I bought it, I replaced almost every single component, down to most of the screws. Some of these are vintage, some are more modern.

The key for me was weight and utility - carbon, titanium and aluminum as needed to create a usable bike that was, at last weigh-in, around 17.3 lbs. You can lift it with one finger. This is a XC bike.

Can you use it on general singletrack? Can you take it downhilling? Frame size is 19.5 (Trek Large). You will not see another bike like this.

Frame: monocoque OCLV Trek 9700, size 19.5, color Ice Inkwell Blue. Fork: RockShox SID Race dual air. Brakes/levers: KCNC VB1 full aluminum V-brakes (lighter than disc). Shifters: Shimano XTR, model M970. Front derailleur: Shimano Deore LX topswing (lighter than the XTR that was available when I built it).

Rear deraillleur: Shimano XTR, model M971, with aluminum pulleys. Crankset: Kooka HyperC, 94/58 175mm. Rings: Middleburn 42/30/20, aluminum ring bolts. Rear cassette: KCNC 9-speed 12-27, scandium and aluminum CNC block. Bottom bracket: White Industries titanium square taper floating spindle. Headset: Crank Brothers Cobalt SL. Bar: Easton EC90 XC CNT. Wheels: Mavic Crossmax ST UST 26. Tires: Maxxis Maxxlite 310 with Continental Supersonic tubes (you can run tubeless if you prefer). Chain: KMC X9SL 104 links. Cabling: Jagwire Switch and XTR. This bike is in used condition.

It looks good in the pics and in-person, but it is not brand new. The clear plastic chainguard has some cracking and someone might want to replace it. There are a couple of nicks in the top tube from a bike rack.

Everyone has their own preference and style, so there's not really any point. If you win and prefer something else, please contact me.
