RARE 2004 Olympics RockShox SID Athena #419/700 Fork 26 PEARL WHITE SERVICED

A Limited Edition Rock Shox SID Athena Suspension Fork. This fork was introduced in honor of the 28th (therefore "XXVIII") Olympic Games in Athens, Greece. Only 700 of these forks were produced, whereas the first ones were reserved for the Olympic MTB racers. As a matter of fact, 2004 XC Gold Medal winner Julien Absalon raced with this fork, check the last pic for that.

The item auctioned here is NOT this actual winner fork by the way. The base of this fork is like the 2004 Race and Team models as it comes to lower legs / casting, but in a still visible rare pearly white color, and equipped with limited "Olympic" decals showing laurel wreath, the Olypmic colors and on the left side "SID" in Greek gold lettering. The decals are somewhat affected by age but could carefully be restored, since there are no repro specimens available (yet). The carbon crown of this fork however is the same as used on the 2004 World Cup SIDs, with the so called Black box Technology (carbon crown and steerer). Steerer length is cut at a whopping 8.75 inch so also usable for L sized bikes check your steere tube for that!

Overall condition of the fork. The fork shows clear signs of well use. Especially at the lower legs, some paint chips have come off over time.

This is also visible at the axle mounts as well as the disc brake mount. However technically this fork is in supreme condition. This fork is fully de- and assembled by a professional, and fully serviced. After which the fork is has not been in use. The fork holds air and the lockout works.

There is no remote for the lockout included but this was a normal 2004 specimen and therefor still available if wished for. Suitable for rim brakes (canti bosses excluded) as well as for disc brake. 1 1/8 Steerer, steerer length is approx.

But what is most important: here is a chance to obtain a pure collectors item, a limited (item 419 of a production of 700) history race proven collectible. Display her on a wall or show case, or mount her to your Sunday ride.

PLEASE CHECK THE PICS CAREFULLY FOR OPTICAL CONDITION. Mind this: although this fork is in mint condition, and is holding its air, I strongly advise mounting this fork by a professional.
