RockShox SID'98 Vintage Fork 26 Blue 1st Gen. Englund, XTR, GT Zaskar/Xizang

RockShox SID 1998 Vintage Fork 26. Here's a chance to obtain an absolute icon from the 90s: a first generation RockShox SID, born in 1998.

In that year the suspension world changed "shockingly" with the introduction of the first air suspended suspension fork, out with the elastomer gummies ; and saving a lot of weight. This one is 1130 grs light.. This specimen is in a let's say fair condition for its age. I would rate it 7/10, seen the age of this item.

Normal wear seen her age. The famous SID Blue color is still vibrant, but there is some corrosion on the lower half of the magnesium legs. This corrosion has taken place underneath the paint. The blue paint is still covering the corrosion. Stanchions and crown are in mint condition (no scratches or cable rub).

PLEASE CHECK THE PICS CAREFULLY FOR CONDITION. Of course the axle mounts are somewhat affected but invisible once the front wheel is mounted. This specimen is the version without disc brake mount.

Original titanium V-brake bosses are mounted. The decals are somewhat affected from falling or parking the bike. This fork has been serviced at least 1 time (don't know when) since the original inserts have been replaced by Englund Total Air Cartridges. Check the black non-original knobs on the crown.

Also the lower leg bolts have been replaced. 1 1/8 Steerer, steerer length is approx. 9 inch which is nice and long since this fork came off a size L bike. Mind this: although this fork is in reasonable condition, and is holding its air, I strongly advise servicing this fork by a professional.

This fork is a take off from a customers build so I haven't tested it, and also have no knowledge about its past. We are talking about a fork over 2 decades old.
